New Hope Community Church is seeking a Pastor of Student Ministry. This pastor will oversee our Junior High and High School programs. We seek an individual with experience developing students and helping them grow in their faith. Responsibilities for this position include developing and maintaining student outreach and discipleship programs and training and oversight of student ministry volunteers. Other preferences include a degree in Bible and solid relational and administrative skills.
New Hope has an average Sunday morning attendance of about 600. We have an excellent reputation for involvement in our community, evangelism, solid teaching, and an effective small-group program. We are excited to see how God will use new leadership to take our existing discipleship and connection program into the future. New Hope is a theologically conservative church, but we attract many people from diverse backgrounds, from unchurched to Pentecostal and Liturgical.
The city of Hermiston is the largest city with the largest school district in Eastern Oregon. It has a population of nearly 20,000 and is surrounded by several smaller communities. It lies 3 hours directly east of Portland, OR, and 35 minutes south of the Tri-Cities, WA. The Hermiston area is a steppe desert near the Columbia River and the Blue Mountains. It is primarily an agricultural area but hosts many industries, including Amazon facilities and a Walmart distribution center. Hermiston is a fast-growing and thriving community full of transplants who have moved here to fill the growing need for skilled and unskilled labor.
